1st June, We Arrive

We arrive in Xiamen, at about 9 in the morning. The Bus from Ningbo is actually quite comfortable. It has beds and they allow out cat on board. However, they seem to be a delivery service for parcels too, so we stop of at this strange place (with broken down cars) to unload stuff, which takes a wee while. When we get to the residency place one of our hosts Ineke, kindly lets us in and gives us info about the place. She is Dutch and is really friendly. The Apartment is large enough and is near the Sea, which is exciting. We have a look around and find some nice arty areas.

We decide to buy some second hand bikes which cost us about 30 pounds for two! We have to go down a strange alleyway, which the bike man takes us too. He seems very excited to be selling us the new bike that he has been working on. We see a rather sad looking Mickey Mouse on the beach and we find it hard to find a super market, so we buy take away pizza and salad from a place near our place. Dina tells me that the sad face on the wall means the authorities have given this a bad rating. However I have already ordered. I realise I need to look out for these faces in future.

The area we live in is exciting and we are both looking forward to exploring more. We will visit the residencies gallery tomorrow. Malevich our cat is very happy exploring our new apartment.
